Paris Hilton Robbed
PARIS HILTON says she's devastated about losing more than two million dollars worth of jewelry during a break-in at her home in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles last Friday morning.
Hilton tells Life & Style magazine, quote, "I am devastated. I cannot believe someone broke into my home. They took items that had such sentimental value that no one will ever be able to replace. I'm just thankful that I wasn't there when it happened."
Los Angeles police say the thief entered the home through the front door. A source close to Paris tells Us Weekly the L.A. Times report that the front door was unlocked is not accurate. Surveillance cameras on the property show a man in a hooded sweatshirt and gloves entering the home around 5 a.m. An insider tells Life & Style the surveillance video shows a thief who appears to know where he was going, quote, "like he's been there before." Paris has now increased her security team to three 24-hour bodyguards.
The insider also tells Life & Style magazine the stolen jewelry included diamonds, rings, necklaces and family heirlooms from Paris' grandmothers.
TMZ.com reports just because Paris may not have locked her front door before the burglary, that doesn't mean she won't be able to collect the insurance. Two insurance companies tell TMZ that if the heiress insured her jewelry for two million dollars, leaving the front door unlocked wouldn't invalidate the policy.
