America voted, and ALLISON IRAHETA, KRIS ALLEN and ADAM LAMBERT are the next three contestants who've made it through to the Top 12 of American Idol season eight.
They'll join DANNY GOKEY, ALEXIS GRACE and MICHAEL SARVER, who made it last week. As each of the three was announced as having made it last night, they all sang their Wednesday night songs again: "Alone," "Man In The Mirror" and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," respectively.

Twenty-five million votes were cast on Wednesday night. During the results show, ALLISON was put in a group with JESSE LANGSETH and MATT BRIETZKE, and then told she was the only one making it through. KRIS was put in a group with MEGAN CORKREY, MATT GIRAUD and JEANINE VAILES. Matt and Jeanine were told they were out, leaving Kris and Megan. It was somewhat of a surprise when Kris made it through, since the judges had been much more positive about Megan's performance.

Also during the results show, the group of 12 sang NE-YO's "Closer," and season seven finalist BROOKE WHITE showed up to perform her new single, "Hold Up My Heart."

Towards the end of the show, MISHAVONNA HENSON, KAI KALAMA, NICK MITCHELL, JASMINE MURRAY and Adam were all put in a group, and Mishavonna, Kai and Jasmine were told they were out. That left Adam and Nick, aka Normund Gentle. SIMON COWELL, who'd said Wednesday that he "prayed" that Nick wouldn't be voted through, joked that he'd spent "five or six hours praying" the previous night. Well, it worked, because Adam was sent through instead.

Next Tuesday, the final group of 12 out of 36 will perform. Wednesday is a results show, during which three more contestants will join the Top 12. Then on Thursday, it's the Wild Card' show, when the judges will bring back what Simon called "a selection of people" whom the judges feel deserve another chance. From those, three more will be chosen to complete the Top 12.
