T.I.'s Reality Show Premieres Tonight

Fresh from two big appearances at the Grammy Awards, T.I.'s new reality show, Road to Redemption, premieres tonight on MTV. This "docu-series" follows Tip as he helps at-risk teenagers across the country get their lives in order. He told the Los Angeles Times, "If I can't get through to them, nobody can."


In one episode, T.I. meets a young gang member who feels drawn to that life because his father and brother were gang members. The rapper tries to set the kid straight by introducing him to his own uncle, who served ten years in jail. T.I. says that his uncle, quote, "explained the difficulties and challenges of being in that situation," to the teen, and added, "We made him [aware] of the fact that the burden is on him."

In addition, during the series' run, you'll watch T.I. speaking to schools and community groups, witness the birth of his sixth child, and join him in his struggle to complete 1,000 hours of community service and prepare to serve jail time in connection for his 2007 arrest on federal weapons charges.

T.I. says, "The show is all about intervening in kids' lives and delivering a positive message." He says doing a reality show is a way for him to reach the most kids in the most efficient way.

Road To Redemption: 45 Days To Go premieres tonight at 9pm ET/PT.
