Rumor: Jay-Z Forced to Buy Thousands of Beyonce's Tix
Check out what MediaTakeOut.com is reporting:
As you guys like to say...20'I caught wind' of a very interesting tidbit yesterday. A friend of mine [works] at a major stadium along Bey's just beginning North American concert tour. Well, even though tickets for this July concert have been on sale for over 3 months (including some priced as low as $20) less then 10% of the tickets have been sold. Even the ticket brokers (who usually buy up hundreds... sometimes even a thousand) aren't buying her tickets because they got stuck with them from her concert 2 years ago. The Venue is tripling the amount of Promo Tickets given away to local Radio and TV stations in an effort to get bodies in the seats.
The situation was so serious that 5 weeks out from the concert, the venue was at the point where they contact tour management and discuss the possibility of postponement or cancellation of the concert due to poor ticket sales.
Then something interesting happened, even though the Box Office and TicketMaster have gone days and even a week without selling 1 ticket to this concert... suddenly someone steps forward and buys several thousand of these tickets in one swoop (and it wasn't a ticket broker).
Word around the venue is that it was someone from Bey's camp doing damage control (an effort to prevent the 'low ticket sales' or 'playing to an empty house' tags from being attached to their superstar).
But here's the problem, if they are planning on handing them out in the city... the stadium is 30 miles out in the suburbs wit h no bus service to the venue, so they are going to have to make sure that those that have been given tickets have transportation to the venue or the plan will backfire.
It's going to be interesting to see if she plays to a full house or a nearly empty one. This could get very expensive if they have to do this all along this tour.
