First out: NFL player Michael Irvin finally got the boot despite the fact he got his highest score of the season Monday.

He has improved over the season and has worked his heart out. Plus, people really warmed to him, his determination and radiant smile. But alas, at this stage of the competition, his time was finally up. In fact, getting a relatively good score Monday may have hurt him.

The two who had to fight for their lives were "Iron Chef America" host Mark Decascos and singer Aaron Carter. Carter's presence again in the bottom indicates incredibly weak fan support because he had the top score on Monday night.

Carter's problem: he comes across as cold as ice. His face just looks angry when he dances. He lacks that intangible likability that kept Irvin around so long. But since the judges had control of who to get rid of, they had to stick with Carter, despite a solid "dance for your life" by Mark.

Mark was always in the middle of the pack. He is really athletic with his martial arts background but he didn't always gain points for precision. And he had a tough time this past week with an ill partner.

So the final five are Donny Osmond, Kelly Osbourne, Carter, Mya and Joanna Krup. I think Kelly is the weakest but Carter is clearly in trouble. People are rooting for Kelly and her emotional highs and lows. She comes across as human. And Donny has a major fan base. Mya and Joanna are incredibly skilled for sure, but will their voters come out in enough numbers to keep them around to the end? We'll know soon enough.
