Beginning his career at the age of 13, Daddy Yankee is the most versatile rap and reggae singer from Puerto Rico, known for his ability to control both genres with such ease. In 1992, Daddy Yankee teamed up with the renowned Puerto Rican DJ Playero and became the most recognized artist to perform with this DJ. Being the most famous rapper of Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee was invited to record in New York City with the popular American rap artist, NAS for the album "Boricua Guerrero." Five years later in New York he had the opportunity to work on DJ Tony Touch's last record titled "The Piece Maker." Daddy Yankee has also worked with other musical genres such as merengue and salsa, recording with Grupo Mania for the production "The Dynasty." This talented rapper also shared the stage in Puerto Rico's "Centro de Bellas Artes", one of the most important theaters in Latin America with the notable and three-time Grammy winner, Olga Tañon. A year later, he returns to the same stage and performs with Puerto Rican salsero Domingo Quiñones. Daddy Yankee then travels back to New York and appears in Big Pun's last video, "100% Percent". Big Pun was one of the six famous rappers of the group Terror Squad and Daddy Yankee had the opportunity to perform with this group in Jimmy Bronx Café. Daddy Yankee is also known as the King of the Improv and winner of said title for 5 consecutive years in the Street Jam Reggae Awards. Other awards include best voice, best lyrics, and the most praised artist, among others. He is also known as the 30-30 for his lyrics that are based on the routine life of the streets of Puerto Rico.
