AMANDA OVERMYER VOTED OFF "AMERICAN IDOL"
The rock and roll nurse, AMANDA OVERMYER, was voted off American Idol last night. KRISTY LEE COOK and CARLY SMITHSON joined her in the bottom three, but they'll be around next week. The top ten contestants remaining on the show will be going on the American Idol tour starting this summer.
The Idol cast once again opened the show with a BEATLES medley including "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Here, There and Everywhere," "Because" and "The End." Idol alum KELLIE PICKLER was also on hand to perform her country single, "Red High Heels."
DAVID HERNANDEZ VOTED OFF "AMERICAN IDOL"
DAVID HERNANDEZ was voted off American Idol last night, just weeks after news surfaced about his former job as a male stripper. SYESHA MERCADO and Idol's country girl KRISTY LEE COOK were in the bottom three, but they're going to be back next Tuesday night.
The cast kicked last night's show off with a medley of songs from the JOHN LENNON and PAUL MCCARTNEY songbook, including "All My Loving," "I Feel Fine," "Can't Buy Me Love" and "Help." The all-Beatles theme has proven so popular, you can expect to hear more Fab Four tunes on next week's show. Even guest performer KATHERINE McPHEE got in on the Beatles act last night, singing GEORGE HARRISON's "Something."
Speaking of guests, JIM CARREY was in the audience dressed as an elephant to promote his new movie Horton Hears A Who. Idol alum SANJAYA MALAKAR was also in the crowd. American Idol returns next Tuesday night at 8:00 ET.

Four More DepartOn Tuesday and Wednesday, America voted and last night the results came in. And we said goodbye to Asia'h, Danny, Kady and Luke.
THE LADIES TAKE ON THE EIGHTIES ON "AMERICAN IDOL"
Eighties week continued on American Idol last night, with the eight remaining female contestants performing some of the decade's best-known hits. Here's what happened:
ASIA'H EPPERSON began the night with a more-than-passable cover of WHITNEY HOUSTON's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." RANDY JACKSON said it a difficult song choice, but felt she was up to the task. Naturally, SIMON COWELL wasn't as enthusiastic, calling Asia'h a second-rate version of Whitney -- a label that Asia'h was happy to accept.
KADY MALLOY dialed back her outgoing personality on QUEEN's "Who Wants to Live Forever," which lost her points with Simon. He told her he wants to see more of the bubbly character she freely displays in the pre-taped interviews. PAULA ABDUL, on the other hand, thought it was Kady's best performance to date.
Rock 'n' roll nurse AMANDA OVERMYER was in her element when she belted out JOAN JETT's "I Hate Myself For Loving You," a song that the panel agreed best suited her talents. Simon in particular thought it was one of the better efforts by a female contestant this season.
CARLY SMITHSON delivered a powerful take on "I Drove All Night," as made popular by CYNDI LAUPER. In her best Randy Jackson impersonation, Paula called Carly a "dependable dog," whatever that means. Basically, she was blown away by the performance, unlike Simon, who couldn't shake the CELINE DION cover of the song out of his mind.
KRISTY LEE COOK offered a country twist on JOURNEY's "Faithfully," which Randy loved, partly because he has ties to the band. Though Simon was happy to hear Kristy Lee bring out her country music influence, his response was still lukewarm.
RAMIELE MALUBAY picked a challenging song in "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)," originally recorded by PHIL COLLINS. Simon said it was too old-fashioned, echoing his opinion of DAVID ARCHULETA's rendition of Collins' "Another Day in Paradise" the night before. Maybe he just doesn't like Phil.
BROOKE WHITE sat down at the edge of the stage for an intimate, acoustic reworking of PAT BENATAR's "Love Is a Battlefield," though she didn't play the guitar herself this time. Simon was the most impressed, again praising Brooke for her originality.
SYESHA MERCADO closed the show with another WHITNEY HOUSTON hit, "Saving All My Love for You." All three judges kept their critiques short; they simply said it was "good." They probably cut straight to the point because the show was nearing the one-hour mark.
Tonight, four more contestants will go home, leaving the final 12 to compete for the Idol crown. Season six runner-up BLAKE LEWIS will also make an appearance to perform his new single, "How Many Words." The results show airs at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Fox.
Farewell to Four:
Here are the four contestants who got the ax last night . . .
--JASON YEAGER . . . who sang the DOOBIE BROTHERS' "Long Train Runnin'" on Tuesday night.
--ROBBIE CARRICO . . . the wannabe rocker who blew it on FOREIGNER'S "Hot Blooded" on Tuesday.
--ALEXANDREA LUSHINGTON . . . who got no love for her rendition of CHICAGO'S "If You Leave Me Now".
--And 16-year-old ALAINA WHITAKER . . . whom Simon actually called a potential DARK HORSE . . . even though nobody liked her version of OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN'S "Hopelessly Devoted To You".
--After getting the boot, the poor kid didn't even want to sing a final song. She said, quote, "I can't sing, this is so embarrassing." But her fellow contestants got her to do it by joining in.
"AMERICAN IDOL" CONTESTANT WEARING A WIG? American Idol contestant ROBBIE CARRICO has a secret, and it worries the show's executives. This particular controversy has nothing to do with arrests or sex tapes, though. According to TMZ.com, the seemingly long-haired singer wears a wig, but doesn't admit it. The report states that, quote, "production members feel like it's the blonde elephant in the room." Carrico performed FOREIGNER's "Hot Blooded" on Tuesday night's show.
