Michael Jackson Dropped from Grammys' Because of His Diva Demands

Michael Jackson was dropped from the Grammy Awards last week after his diva demands proved too much for the show's producers, it has been claimed.

Jackson 'wanted to be referred to as the King of Pop 30 times' The Thriller star was scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles awards ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of Thriller, the best-selling album of all time.

Demands Included...
But his appearance was cancelled after the 49-year-old reportedly demanded that...

  • The entire event dedicated to him, the New York Post claims.

  • Among other bizarre requests was that he be referred to as the King of Pop no less than 30 times during the ceremony.

  • He also insisted on receiving a special award that no one had received before and never would again, and wanted a special honoree to introduce him.

    25th Anniversary of Thriller
The pop singer's appearance at the Grammys would have been a huge boost for his recently released 25th anniversary edition of Thriller. The album, which features new remixes by Kanye West and will.I.am, made a return to the UK charts last week, coming in at number three. Also absent from the Grammy Awards was Amy Winehouse, who scooped five of the evening's top prizes including best new artist, best pop vocal album.

The troubled 24-year-old singer, who was undergoing treatment in a UK rehabilitation facility, was unable to travel to America for the ceremony because of visa issues, but performed live via satellite from London.
